Sleep Center "Hut Raising" Project

Sleep Center "Hut Raising" Project

Saturday, November 5, 2022 (9:00 AM - 3:00 PM) (PDT)

Description

On Saturday, November 5th there will be an old fashion 'Hut Raising' at the Sweet Home High School Construction yard, located off of 18th Avenue. The High School construction class, under the leadership of teacher Will Coltrin, has been building components of what look like small Conestoga wagons. Once assembled, these components actually end up being sleeping huts for the homeless. Over the next few weeks these huts will be moved to the new homeless site off of 24th Ave. Five huts are currently near completion and four of them will be set up at the homeless site next week. At least 15 huts need to be assembled before the site can open on December 1. To accomplish this goal, we need your help. We need painters, laborers, people who can operate a screw drill and anyone that is just willing to help raise these huts. Tools and instruction will be provided. If you can spare three hours of your time on Saturday, November 5th we could certainly use your help. If you can help out from either 9am-Noon or Noon-3pm, please email Larry Horton at drlarry_horton@yahoo.com
