This year is our 5th Annual Gingerbread Competition. Anyone can compete, or you can just come and enjoy the beauty and creativity of the finished houses.

Viewing of the entries and voting for the People's Choice Award will be on December 16th from 10AM-3PM at 1266 44th Ave in Sweet Home.

Entries must be delivered to the Activity Gym at SHNLICF, 1266 44th Ave, Sweet Home on December 15th from 5-8pm. After that time, the doors are shut, and judging begins.

You may enter for FREE. The rules are listed below.

Only edible items are allowed, with the exception of the base and battery-operated light(s). No glue, and points are deducted for kits. Structure does not have to be a house; be creative!

Winners receive a prize for each category listed below:

• Child (5-8 years old)

• Adult (18+ years old)
• Group/Family
• People's Choice

There is also a silent auction available for some of the houses, money goes to the competitor.

Sweet Home Gingerbread Competition Rules 2023

1. Bake, construct, and decorate an edible house, structure, or scene (feel free to think outside the box, there is a judging category for most creative idea.) A pre-baked gingerbread kit will be acceptable, but there will be points deducted by the judges for not baking the house yourself. All items must be edible, with the exception of lights (must be battery-operated) and the base that the house sits on. No glue! We recommend a strong base (remember you will not get this back if you choose to include your house in the auction). We allow parental help for melted candies used to cement the house together for safety reasons or with the group category.
2. Entry must be entirely completed by the contestant (unless in group category). Parental help is not allowed (with the exception of melted gummies or candies). We encourage the parents to instruct and supervise the child instead of doing it if it can be done safely.
3.  If you choose to participate in the silent auction, your house will be sold to the highest bidder. The money will be given to you or sent to the address you provide on this application.
4. The dimensions of the base must not exceed 22’’ by 22’’ in size, and the structure cannot be more than 3 feet in height.
5. Contest is open to the general public and is FREE to enter. We request pre-registration.
6. All entries must be delivered to Sweet Home New Life in Christ Fellowship (SHNLICF) (1266 44th Ave, Sweet Home, OR 97386) on December 15th from 5pm-8pm. Judging will take place after 8 pm on Friday, December 15th. Any entry not received by that hour will not be accepted. On-site creation of entries is not permitted; minor repairs at the time of delivery are allowed.
7. Entries will be on display at SHNLICF, 1266 44th Ave in Sweet Home on December 16th from 10AM-3PM. If you want to keep your house and not have it auctioned, you must pick up your entry between the hours of 3PM-5PM on December 16th otherwise, it will be thrown away. Your house may be picked up by family or friends.
8. All participants agree that a photo or likeness of their entry and entrant may be used for promotion, publicity or advertising without compensation.
9. SHNLICF is not responsible for theft, damage, acts of nature, or destruction of entries and reserves the right to refuse any entries that are deemed inappropriate for display. Inappropriate entries may include, but are not limited to: political groups, personal attacks, vulgar language, and obscene images.
